A rail line arrived in the village in the 1830s, but the station didn't follow until 1883, after pressure from local landowners who wanted to transport timber and crops. They weren't the only ones to prosper: the station propelled Hook into the modern world, and residential development sprang up around the tracks. Modern Hook is has seen considerable investment since WW2, with one of the most significant projects coming between 2004 and 2006, when the Holt Park residential development expanded the village to the east.
